TONI derives from a question: what would happen if we tried to “listen to what we see”, if we create a new terrain of exploration where what we are usually used to perceive with the sense of sight is instead perceived through hearing? TONI creates an “alternative synesthesia” using a sequence of interactions between various components (Raspberry pi, RGB sensor, speaker and PureData). Once leaning on a surface, it’s able to read colors and bumps and then translate this information into a coherent sound feedback, creating patterns that change matching the color and texture of the surfaces on which it slides.
